Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused the Modi government of 'murdering Bharat Mata' in Manipur and of 'dividing Manipur into two parts'. Participating in the debate on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Gandhi blamed the Centre for its handling of Manipur since violence erupted three months ago. «I say Manipur, but the truth is there is nothing of Manipur left.

Gandhi said he favoured deployment of the Army to end the violence in Manipur. He asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not visited Manipur after the violence began. «PM Modi did not visit Manipur because for him, Manipur is not in India.» Gandhi then clubbed Manipur with the Haryana incidents: «You have sprinkled kerosene everywhere.
