Centre has refuted Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin's allegations that it was withholding funds for development projects in the state.
Officials stated that over the last ten years, the central government has significantly increased funding for projects related to railways, highways, airports, as well as social and rural sector schemes in Tamil Nadu.
Centre has spent ₹13,392.89 crore under MNREGA in Tamil Nadu, which is 12.71% of the total expenditure across the country in 2023-24, the above quoted officials said adding that budget allocated to Tamil Nadu for the development of railways between 2009 and 2014 used to average around ₹879 crore per year, while the Central government has slotted₹ 6,331 crore for the State in the budget of 2024-25.
