Cheltenham Gold Cup: As Galopin Des Champs eyes hat-trick, a look at his biggest rivals
Cheltenham Gold Cup, the major highlight of the Cheltenham Festival, will see Irish jockey Paul Townend and Galopin Des Champs attempting to win the major horse racing tournament for the third year in a row.
If all goes as planned, Galopin Des Champs will become the first to mark a Gold Cup hat-trick ever since Arkle did the same in 1966.
Till now, four horses have been able to win the Gold Cups three times, including Arkle and Best Mate, BBC reported.
Cheltenham Gold Cup: Date and time
The Gold Cup is all set to take place on Friday, March 14 on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival.
The final race will kick-start at 4 PM (GMT), with four other races taking place before it on the coverage.

Cheltenham Gold Cup: Odds
Galopin Des Champs, which is the Willie Mullins-trained horse, is among the favourites for the event, with most of the other challengers appearing less confident on ground.
Mullins said that the horse is a special one as he has «got just lots of heart».
«He's obviously got athletic ability, he's better than average. But when push comes to shove in those last two furlongs, when you've got to dig deep, this guy seems to have reserves of energy… He's tough,» BBC Sport quoted Mullins as saying.
At his Closutton stables in County Carlow, Mullins trains over 200 horses. Galopin Des Champs, which has been affectionately given the nickname «the good one» by the staff members at the stable.
