Citigroup told its 9,000 employees in Canary Wharf to work from home on 30 March after a widespread power cut in the financial district on 29 March forced many of its bankers offline for hours.
The US bank told London staff that it expects "access to power in and around Canary Wharf to be compromised tomorrow" and advised employees to work from home as "we further test our systems", according to an internal memo seen by Financial News.
