The City's regulators defended their independence from the government as lawmakers begin debating a landmark overhaul to post-Brexit rule-making.
"Operational independence is vital to maintaining the effectiveness of UK financial regulation," Prudential Regulation Authority chief and deputy governor Sam Woods said.
