Paritosh Tripathi has come in defense of his colleague Kettan Singh after director Karan Johar took a veiled dig at him for mimicking him in ‘Madness Machayenge: Duniya Ko Hasayenge’. Singh issued an apology immediately after the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ director expressed his anguish at being disrespected on Instagram. However, Tripathi came to defend his co-star and maintained that they did not intend to mock anyone.
“None of the comedians on the show mean to offend or hurt anyone. That is never the intention behind what we do. We just want to make people laugh, and use our comic skills to do that,” he told Hindustan Times.
He also revealed that Singh was a big fan of the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahanii’ and that mimicry is a form of flattery. “Kettan is such a big fan of Karan sir. When someone does mimicry of someone, it shows how that person admires the other person… It shows how they notice every detail, emotion, and action of the person. With the show, we don’t want to offend anyone or want people to get the perception that we are hurting others.” he told HT.
“ The whole team just wants Karan to know that we didn’t want to offend him. It was done in a light manner…” he added.
