Copa America title in 2024 on the US soil as the century-old prestigious tournament returns to the shores of America. While Messi-led Argentina defeated France to lift the soccer World Cup, «La Albiceleste» edged past Brazil in the Copa America final in 2021.
South American football federation CONMEBOL has unveiled the 14 cities that will serve as hosts for matches at the 2024 Copa América, marking the tournament's return to the United States for the first time since 2016.
The selected cities include Arlington, Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami Gardens, Santa Clara, Charlotte, East Rutherford, Austin, Atlanta, Inglewood, Houston, Glendale, and two stadiums in Kansas City.
The tournament's inaugural match is scheduled to take place at Atlanta United's Mercedes-Benz Stadium, while the final will be hosted at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. This marks only the second occasion, following the special centenary Copa América in 2016, that the tournament will be held outside of South America.
Initially designated as the host, Ecuador withdrew in November 2022 due to economic and security concerns, along with a lack of suitable stadiums. The hosting of the 2024 Copa América stands as a significant boost for the USA as the nation prepares to co-host the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.
