Crorepati Dream! How to achieve a Rs 2 crore target in 10-12 years?
Investors often set ambitious financial goals, but the key to achieving them lies in strategic planning and disciplined investing.
On The Money Show aired on ETNow, Nisreen Mamaji, Founder of MoneyWorks Financial Services, addressed a query from Sailendra Singh, who aims to build a corpus of Rs 2 crore in 10-12 years with a 5% semi-annual SIP step-up.
Is the Target Achievable?
According to Mamaji, Singh’s current investment portfolio is well-structured and diversified across different categories. His holdings include:
SBI Contra Fund
Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund
Live Events
JM Flexicap Fund
HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund
Motilal Oswal Mid & Large Cap Fund
Kotak Multicap Fund
Bandhan Small Cap Fund
Nippon ETF Nifty 100
Additionally, he has made lump sum investments in SBI Contra Fund and JM Flexicap Fund.
Projected Corpus with Step-Up SIP
At a 12% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR), with a 10% annual step-up, the future value of his investment after 12 years would be around Rs 1.39 crore.
If he steps up investments semi-annually by 5%, the corpus could reach Rs 1.48 crore—a slight improvement but still short of his Rs 2 crore target.
How Can He Reach Rs 2 Crore?
To meet his financial goal, Mamaji suggests two options:
Increase the Monthly SIP: Raising the SIP to Rs 40,000 would significantly improve the probability of achieving Rs 2 crore in 12 years.
Extend the Investment Tenure: Increasing the investment period to 14 years instead of 12 could help bridge the gap.
