AgriCentral, which serves over 10 million smallholder farmers, will enable DeHaat to strengthen its digital services for farmers and expand its reach.
“They have been operating this content-only platform for the farmers, and that’s where we thought it was going to be a straightforward plug-and-play, where those 10 million farmers would be part of our ecosystem, and with the existing supply chain, we can take it to a larger network of farmers,” DeHaat founder and chief executive Shashank Kumar told ET.
“Secondly, it's an inorganic capability we are adding, which involves onboarding farmers digitally and keeping them engaged through content. And then, obviously, on the commerce side, we already have ready-made solutions for them,” he added.
With this, the Temasek-backed DeHaat has now acquired seven businesses including Vezamart, Farmguide, Helicrofter, YCook, FieldFresh Foods and Freshtrop Fruits.
