Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has embraced a new digital avenue to connect directly with the people of the city. His personal WhatsApp channel went live on Friday, shortly after the launch of the Delhi Chief Minister's Office (CMO) WhatsApp channel earlier this week.
The move underscores the Delhi government's commitment to establishing a more «personal connection» with its citizens, as stated by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
WhatsApp Channels, designed as one-way broadcast tools, enable administrators to share text, photos, videos, stickers, and polls, making it an efficient platform for disseminating information.
In his inaugural message on the channel, Arvind Kejriwal expressed his delight, saying, «Delighted to connect with you on WhatsApp Channel. Stay connected to receive the latest information on achievements of the Delhi government, new programmes and initiatives, and all the behind-the-scenes action as we work towards making Delhi a national capital that all Indians can be proud of!»
He also took the opportunity to share heartwarming pictures of senior citizens embarking on a pilgrimage to Rameswaram under the 'Mukhya Mantri Teerth Yatra Yojna.' Kejriwal stated, «This week, I am very pleased to share that we sent a group of 780 senior citizens for a pilgrimage trip to Rameswaram under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojna.
I am blessed to receive their love. Sharing some moments of warmth with you through these photos.»
Encouraging wider engagement, the Chief Minister urged, «Share this channel with friends and family and invite them to subscribe to this Channel.»
The CM's WhatsApp channel quickly garnered over 23,000 followers within a short span of its launch, as confirmed by the Delhi CMO.
