Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will commence passenger services on the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension section of the Magenta Line today (January 5) at 3 pm. This marks the opening of the first segment under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro project, a phase that faced considerable delays.

The new section features a single station, Krishna Park Extension, extending the operational Magenta Line from Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West. With the addition, the Delhi Metro network now includes 289 stations covering 394.448 kilometres.
Initially, trains on the Janakpuri West–Krishna Park Extension route will operate at 16-minute intervals. The extension is expected to improve connectivity for nearby areas and offer smoother travel for commuters. With this development, the Magenta Line now spans approximately 40 kilometres.
The Magenta Line's further extension to RK Ashram Marg is scheduled for phased completion by 2026. Simultaneously, construction on other corridors under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro project is in progress.
