Delhi-NCR on Friday morning, bringing an unexpected change in weather to the national capital. Parts of Noida were also hit by a squall followed by heavy rain.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted rain for Delhi on both Friday and Saturday.
An IMD official stated, «The city may see light to moderate showers on Friday and Saturday. There is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers on Sunday, with a chance of very light rain or drizzling from Monday to Wednesday.»
The sudden burst of rain, were accompanied by gusty winds and lashed several parts of Delhi and the neighboring National Capital Region early on Friday.
Areas in South West Delhi, including Vasant Vihar, Munirka, and RK Puram, experienced light rainfall during the early hours.
This unexpected rainfall, along with the gusty winds, brought much-needed relief to the city after enduring stifling heat for the past few days.
According to the IMD, these intermittent spells of light rain, combined with gusty winds, will gradually subside after 9:30 am on Friday.
In a weather bulletin posted at 7:29 am on its official handle, the IMD reported, «Delhi-NCR is most likely to experience gusty winds with speeds of 50-70 kmph and moderate rain, occasionally intense, due to approaching clouds from NW Uttar Pradesh until around 09:30 today. Thereafter, the gusty winds and rain spell will gradually decrease.
