PTI citing officials, Shahnawaz has taken him into custody. In a significant achievement, the Delhi Police Special Cell successfully captured Shahnawaz, also known as Shafi Uzzama, who held the status of being the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) most wanted terrorist.
Shahnawaz, who had a reward of ₹3 lakhs on his head, was sought after in relation to the Pune ISIS case. This apprehension marks a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and maintain security in the region, HT reported.
Further investigations will be conducted to gather additional information regarding Shahnawaz's involvement and potential connections to terrorist activities. The individual in question, a 32-year-old engineer residing in Delhi, had managed to escape from police custody in Pune, triggering an extensive manhunt spanning across multiple states.
The recent apprehension of Shafi Uzzama is a part of the NIA's ongoing efforts to capture individuals linked to the Pune ISIS module case. Shafi Uzzama, along with Talha Liyakat Khan, Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, and Abdulla Faiyaz Shaikh, who is also known as Daiperwala, had been the focus of an extensive nationwide manhunt."Exciting news!
