Delhi Police to deploy 25,000 personnel for Holi and Ramzan Friday prayers
Delhi Police are ramping up security ahead of Holi, which coincides with Ramzan’s Friday prayers this year. More than 25,000 police personnel, along with paramilitary forces, will be deployed across the city to prevent any disturbances and maintain law and order.
Over 300 Sensitive Locations Under Watch
Authorities have pinpointed more than 300 sensitive areas that will be under constant surveillance. “We have traced PCR calls made in the last two years on Holi and recognised the most vulnerable areas. The time period in which most of these calls have been made is between 12 pm and 8 pm. Vigilant patrolling will be carried out during this time,” said a senior police officer.
Drone cameras and CCTV monitoring will provide live updates from these locations, while additional police units will be stationed in high-risk zones. In South district alone, 1,500 officers will be deployed.
Community Engagement for Peaceful Celebrations
To ensure harmony, Delhi Police have been meeting with Aman committees, imams, and resident welfare associations (RWAs). “We are holding meetings with Aman committees in every district since Holi and Ramzan’s Friday prayers are taking place on the same day. Both the parties are very cooperative and are continuously in touch with us,” said an officer.
These meetings will continue until the day of Holi and Friday prayers, with an emphasis on preventing misinformation and maintaining peace in residential areas.
