Last winter, the peak had hit 5816 MW, the highest recorded in the national capital. During summer this year, peak electricity demand had touched an unprecedented 8,656 MW.
The areas served by BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd, winter peaks are projected to exceed 2,600 MW and 1,240 MW, respectively. Last year, the peak hit 2,529 MW and 1,210 MW, respectively.
BSES power distribution companies are focusing on strategic power planning, precise demand forecasting, and maintaining its distribution network to meet the demand, an official said.
BSES has secured over 2,000 MW of renewable energy to meet the demand with 840 MW of solar power, 546 MW of hydropower, 500 MW of wind energy, 40 MW of waste-to-energy, and over 180 MW from rooftop solar installations, the official said.
