DC Universe (DCU) fans were all excited when ‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot hinted at the return of the female superhero in a third film in the franchise. The sequel had been shelved when DC Studios’ new co-CEOs, James Gunn and Peter Safran, took over. So, has Wonder Woman been revived? A new report in Variety rebutted the claims. Gal Gadot, who plays the iconic female superhero in the film, recently revealed to ComicBook.com that she had been assured by James Gunn and Peter Safran of a new Wonder Woman movie with her. «I love portraying Wonder Woman. It's so close to and dear to my heart,” said Gal Gadot. “From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we're gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together,» she added. She said in the interview that both CEOs had told her, “You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. (We) love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.” But now Variety has learned from sources at DC that a third Wonder Woman film is “not in development at DC Studios nor do Gunn and Safran have plans at this time for any Wonder Woman project in the new DC Universe other than their previously announced “Paradise Lost” prequel series for Max”.
Gal Gadot’s outing as Wonder Woman:Gal Gadot first played Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s DCU, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She went on to have two standalone films – Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984. She later appeared in Justice League as Wonder Woman, as well as in cameos in DC films such as Shazam! Fury of the Gods and in Universal Pictures' Fast X in the post-credits. If at all the third film happens, it is sure that it won’t be directed by Patty Jenkins, who helmed the two Gal Gadot standalone Wonder Woman films.
