Snopes also reported that however, there is no actual and definitive evidence linking the layoffs directly to the hiring of H-1B workers.
Tesla has utilized the H-1B visa program for years prior to these layoffs and the period from the month of October of the year 2023 to the month of September of the year 2024 saw the highest number of H-1B applications in the history of Tesla, asserted Snopes. It should be also noted that about two thirds of these applications were for workers already employed by Tesla seeking to extend their visa status.
Between the month of March and the month of June in the year 2024, Tesla actually submitted 1,269 applications for H-1B visas while accounting for approximately 61% of its yearly total.
