Official sources confirmed the development, but added any further move on the subject depends on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah signing off on a site.
The government plans to adopt a public private partnership (PPP) model in the same way as it did with the Kempegowda international airport (KIA). Private investors would be enthusiastic if they can get at least 4000 acres of land to build the airport and other facilities, sources added.
Shivakumar’s idea has not faced any resistance in the government, but the catch is if the government would be able to pull off acquisition on such a scale with minimal displacements of people.
