'Don't help the enemy': Israel urges citizens not to spread rumours on social media
Israel has issued a call to its citizens, urging them to exercise vigilance and not to disseminate rumours on social media platforms like WhatsApp after Hamas launched a " surprise attack".
A visual message shared by the Israel Prime Minister's Office on X reads: «Don't help the enemy.»
While sharing the picture on X, Israel Prime Minister's Office stated, «Don't spread rumors on Whatsapp or social media Don't share threats by terrorist organizations Don't distribute videos or photos from scenes of terror attacks Remain vigilant, be responsible, and together we will win.»
Earlier, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel «was at war» and he has ordered mobilization of reserves to give it back with the magnitude the enemy has not expected, asserting that they will «win it.»
In a video statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Netanyahu stated, «We are at war, not in an operation or in rounds, but at war. This morning, Hamas launched a murderous surprise attack against the State of Israel and its citizens.
We have been in this since the early morning hours. I convened the heads of the security establishment and ordered, first of all, to clear out the communities that have been infiltrated by terrorists.
This currently is being carried out.»
Netanyahu has ordered the mobilization of reserves. He called on people of Israel to adhere to the directives of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Home Front Command.
