Dr Reddy's on Thursday said it has entered into the child nutrition segment with the launch of immunobooster gummies under brand name CeleHealth Kidz Immuno Plus Gummies. The company said the immunity supporting gummies are fortified by scientifically formulated combinations of ingredients such as Wellmune, prebiotics and other essential vitamins and minerals. Wellmune is a form of clinically studied beta-glucan and a proven ingredient to help reduce sick days in children by enhancing their innate immunity.
«We estimate the child immunity market across formats such as syrups, tablets, chewables, melts to be around Rs. 1600 crore, growing in double digit,» the company said in a statement. Some of the existing players in the child immunity supplements space include Haleon (Centrum Kids), Azveston Healthcare (Nutri Bears), HUL (Horlicks Nutri Gummies), Himalaya (Septilin) and Apex (Zincovit).
Dr Reddy's along with traditional pharmaceutical formulations has diversified into nutraceuticals in 2019, and opened an R&D centre in Bachupally, Hyderabad in 2021 to develop nutraceutical formulations. The company is using retail, hospital and e-commerce channels to distribute nutraceuticals. «We see nutraceuticals as an important medium to long-term growth area,» the company said.
The company's nutrition portfolio includes products in adult nutrition, child nutrition, hospital & clinical nutrition and general health & wellness. Dr. Reddy’s flagship nutraceutical offering is the nutrition product Celevida for dietary management of diabetes.
