King Of Kotha’, Dulquer Salmaan’s action thriller is off to a great start!
As per a report by the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the film collected over Rs 7.75 crore on the first day of its release. The movie is projected to make about Rs 2.50 crore on the second day. If it can manage this feat, the movie will cross Rs 9.10 crore in two days!
Friday Matinee is a Twitter handle that focuses on sharing box-office collections of South films revealed that the movie had crossed an important milestone as it is the first movie not starring Mohanlal or Mammootty to cross Rs 5 crore on its first day of release. “First Time Ever: Dulquer Salmaan is the first Malayalam actor to score over 5 Cr + gross on day 1 except Big M's from Kerala box office. Fantastic Day 1!”
Aside from ‘King Of Kotha’, Salmaan also made his OTT debut with the black comedy ‘Guns & Gulaabs. The movie also starred Rajkummar Rao.
The movie is directed by Abhilash Joshiy. It also marks his directorial debut. The movie explores the underbelly of the fictional town of Kotha as well as the life and times of Rajendran Raju aka Raju Madrassi, a ruthless gangster who rules the town.
The film is set in the 1990s. Aside from Salmaan, the movie also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Gokul Suresh, Prasanna etc.
The movie is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 50 crore.
