Elon Musk is all over the headlines for his public endorsement and support towards Donald Trump and the Republican Party for the upcoming US elections in November. However, latest reports from the Wall Street Journal suggest that the Tesla owner has also been in close contact with Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the better part of two years. Their contact has ranged around a variety of topics, including business, personal matters and even geopolitical issues, claims the report.

This revelation of Musk being in touch with Putin has come to light based on statements from Russian, US and European officials to the WSJ. There is also a claim in the report that Putin had asked Musk not to go through with the plan of activating Starlink internet services in Taiwan as a favor to Chinese Premier Xi Jinping. It must be noted that Russia and China are close allies, and rely on each other for a lot of agenda, including trade and geopolitical factors. Therefore, this claim cannot be entirely done away with, as such a decision could indeed benefit China.
