Medulance, an emergency healthcare services startup, has raised $3 million in Series A funding, led by Alkemi Growth Capital.
The funding round also saw participation from investors such as Dexter Capital, Boat founder Aman Gupta, and Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ executive director Namita Thapar.
The New Delhi-based startup has raised fresh capital after running as a profitable bootstrapped company for six years, it said in the statement.
The funds will be used to increase its presence across the country while focusing on emergency management technology to reduce emergency call answering time and service response time in over 500 cities in India.
With a plan to expand across tier 2 and tier 3 cities, Medulance looks to reach over 1,000 cities over the next 15-18 months. It also aims to establish public-private partnerships to extend its services to an additional 3-4 states in the coming years.
Since its inception in 2017, Medulance has grown its fleet to 10,000 ambulances across over 500 cities pan-India and improved the dispatch time of emergency ambulances from 5 minutes to 2 minutes, cofounder and chief operating officer Ravjot Singh Arora said.
“Through this capital, Medulance would leverage the latest technology including 5G and smart
