'Shogun' surprised everyone when it received as many as 25 nominations, including acting nods for Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. With 23 nominations, 'The Bear' followed it. It stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce and Liza Colón-Zayas and all of them have received acting nods. Other series in the top list are 'Only Murders in the Building' (21), 'True Detective: Night Country' (19) and 'The Crown' (18). The nominations for the 2024 Emmys Awards were announced Wednesday morning. It is important to note that Hollywood witnessed strikes by SAG-AFTRA and WGA in 2023.
A majority of the Emmy trophies will be given at the Creative Arts ceremonies, on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannie Rouzan-Clay will executive produce the telecast, the host is yet to be named.
The 76th Emmys will be aired live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 5-8 p.m. PT / 8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. Only those television programs will be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, which will be aired between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.
