Lok Sabha ethics committee has adopted a report recommending Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha after a majority (6) of panel members voted in favour of it.
The Lok Sabha has to pass a resolution next to expel the MP from the House. Moitra has been accused by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey of 'accepting cash for asking questions' in the Lower House.
Those who voted in favour included Congress MP Preneet Kaur, wife of Captain Amarinder Singh, who is now with BJP, and panel chairman and BJP MP Vinod Sonkar. BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali, Congress' V Vaithilingam, CPM's PR Natarajan and JDU's Giridhari Yadav voted against the recommendation and gave dissenting notes to the report.
Congress MP Uttam Reddy, who could not attend the meeting as he was in Telangana to file nominations for the assembly elections as scheduled earlier, also sent his dissent note to Sonkar.

We will send a detailed report along with the recommendations to the Lok Sabha Speaker. Whatever action is to be taken now will be taken by the Speaker,» Sonkar told journalists after the meeting.
The 479-page report also recommended institutional inquiry against Moitra on the allegation that she 'shared her login credentials with an unauthorised person'. It recommended another inquiry on the allegation that she 'received gifts and money' from businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
Talking about today's proceedings, Danish Ali, said, «The meeting concluded in 2.5 minutes.
