Prashant Jhaveri, chief executive of Flipkart’s online pharmacy Flipkart Health+, is leaving the firm after having joined just over a year ago, people aware of the matter said. Jhaveri, who was earlier chief business officer (CBO) at Apollo Health, will be replaced by internal candidate Kanchan Mishra, the sources added. Mishra, who was looking at the FMCG, home and general merchandise business for the Walmart-owned etailer, will take over the role of CBO of Flipkart Health+, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to ET.
She has been with the Flipkart group for over nine years across various roles.Kanchan Mishra Jhaveri's exit comes in the wake of Flipkart group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy's recent rejig at the firm, which was first reported by ET in May. Flipkart senior vice president and head of new businesses Adarsh Menon is also moving on as part of the changes at the firm. Multiple sources aware of Flipkart’s epharmacy business said the firm has gained market share over the last one year.
“They (Flipkart) have actually gained market share among vertical pharmacies like 1mg and PharmEasy,” a source said. While the exact market share of Flipkart Health+ is not known independently, industry sources said the etailer has been able to gain a foothold in the market since launching the business in November 2021 after acquiring SastaSundar. Besides these players, Amazon India and Apollo are also expanding their epharmacy business across the country.
A spokesperson for Flipkart did not comment on ET’s query on its market share. Flipkart’s online pharmacy business is available in Flipkart’s main app, but it also has a separate app for the vertical. Online pharmacy is among the new business verticals that Krishnamurthy has been
