Khattar will be taking the Power Ministry from R K Singh who failed to win in the Lok Sabha elections. Raj Kumar Singh, earlier the Union minister for power and renewable energy, lost the seat in Bihar's Arrah to CPI(ML)-Liberation's Sudama Prasad by 59,808 votes.
On the other hand, Khattar will be taking Ministry Housing and Urban Devenopment from Hardeep Singh Puri.
Manohar Lal Khattar won from Karnal defeating Congress' Divyanshu Budhiraja by a margin of 232577 votes. Khattar was the Chief Minister till March this year, when the Bharatiya Janata Party suddenly chose to drop him from the post and field him for the Lok Sabha. He was replaced by Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Minister.
Khattar, a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak has served as the Chief Minister for two terms from October 2014 and has been representing Karnal Legislative Assembly since 2014.
