Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee hospitalized
Bhattacharjee has been kept on non-invasive ventilator support in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of premier private hospital Woodlands Hospital after his oxygen saturation dropped. A nine-member inter-disciplinary medical team has been formed, which is closely monitoring his treatment. According to the medical bulletin, Bhattacharjee is suffering from lower respiratory tract infection and he is suffering from Type-II respiratory failure.
The former Chief Minister(79) suffers from COPD and has other chronic ailments. He was brought to the hospital in a special ambulance with ICU care and was accompanied by his doctors through a green corridor by Kolkata Police. «Bhattacharjee's basic parameters are better.
His consciousness level is better compared to morning and he is responding to the doctors,» physician of Bhattacharya Utpal Bandopadhya said. His oxygen saturation started dropping and he could not be stabilized with High Flow Nasal Oxygen support by his doctors. Bhattacharjee's wife Mira Bhattacharjee and daughter Suchetana Bhattacharjee accompanied him to the hospital.

Doctors said that he is responding to treatment and the situation is under control. Dr Kausik Chakraborty and Dr Saroj Mondal are part of the medical team. ,» CPI-M leaders Rabin Deb said, after visiting the hospital.
Governor CV Ananda Bose visited the hospital after learning about the former CM's illness. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also likely to visit the hospital to see Bhattacharjee at the hospital and mee. Bose said, «We are deeply concerned and pained.
