X handle of Chief minister of Assam stated, “HCM Dr @himantabiswa is constantly monitoring the impact caused by heavy rains and storms that hit Assam on 31.03.2024. The State Emergency Operation Centre is coordinating 24*7 with DCs of the 10 affected districts. Following preliminary assessment we regret to inform you of the unfortunate loss of 4 lives. 45 villages have been affected by yesterday’s inclement weather”.
Union Home minister Amit Shah stated in X, “Deeply concerned about the severe loss suffered by West Bengal, Assam, and Manipur due to a storm. Spoke to the Chief Ministers and assured them of all possible assistance. I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the swift recovery of the injured. Also, appeal to all the Karyakartas of the BJP to be with the affected people and provide every possible help to them during this hour of distress.”
In an incident in South Salmara-Mankachar district, Assam, where a four-year-old child died and two people were reported missing after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra River on Sunday.
