Even after the couple alighted at Aligarh railway junction, the harassment continued. The miscreants beat her husband with belts when he tried to stop them, said ToI's report further.
The woman’s desperate cries for help eventually caught the attention of people on the platform, leading to a police alert. However, she claimed that instead of taking immediate action against the attackers, the Government Railway Police (GRP) initially detained her husband. This led to protests by the couple’s relatives, who arrived at the station. Following the uproar, the GRP released the husband and filed a case at the Aligarh GRP police station against the assailants.
One of the accused, Jitu Singh, a resident of Usmanpur Khandauli in Agra, was arrested, while the other three, including Mahesh from Singh Kuberpur, are still on the run. Two of the attackers remain unidentified.
«The goons started staring at me soon after the train departed from Delhi. When I objected, they tried to touch me. My husband tried to intervene but he was attacked. Though I pleaded for help, other passengers watched silently,» the victim told ToI.
