«As per convention and under Article 188 of the Constitution, the four newly elected members, who won in the recent by-elections, will be sworn in by me,» the Speaker told reporters at his assembly chamber.
“The assembly session has started, and we will bring two resolutions on NEET and three criminal laws this week,” the Speaker added. The Business Advisory Committee report was also placed today on the floor of the House.
Asked if the assembly has received any information on oath from Governor CV Ananda Bose, the Speaker said, “We have not received any communication from the governor. These are all official matters, and cannot be discussed with the media. Whatever I have to say, I will discuss this in the House tomorrow.”
Four Trinamool candidates won the recent bypolls from Kolkata’s Maniktala (Supti Pande), North Dinajpur’s Raiganj (Krishna Kalyani), North 24 Parganas district’s Bagdah (Madhuparna Thakur) and Ranaghat South (Mukutmoni Adhikari). All are slated to take oath on Tuesday.
“A resolution will be moved on NEET tomorrow under Rule 169. Another resolution will be moved on three criminal laws on Friday. On Thursday, West Bengal Scheduled Class and Scheduled Tribes & OBC Development and Finance Corporation Amendment Bill will be introduced and discussion will be held,” the Speaker said.
