Ayodhya. The gifts, including silver shoes, ornaments, and clothes, were handed over to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust by Ram Roshan Das, the priest of Ram Janki Temple in Janakpur. The gifts were transported in a convoy of around 30 vehicles from the Janakpur Dham Ramjanaki Temple in Nepal and arrived at Karsevakpuram on Saturday.
Among the participants were over 500 devotees of Ram Lalla's 'in-laws', who brought more than 3,000 gifts, including fruits, sweets, gold, silver, and other items.
The majority of the gifts, which traveled over 500km from Nepal to Ayodhya, consisted of dry fruits and traditional sweets of the region. The gifts were received by Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Mandir Trust.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) orchestrated a Bhar (Sanesh) Yatra from Janakpur city in Nepal to Ayodhya.
Rai emphasized the long-standing relationship between Nepal and India, which dates back to the Treta Yug. The gifts from Nepal will be distributed among the devotees as prasad, according to Rai.
Ayodhya mayor Mahant Girish Pati Tripathi expressed the residents' deep respect for the people of Janakpur, as they are considered relatives of Mata Janaki.
In December, Ayodhya celebrated the wedding of Lord Ram and Sita with great fervor. The Ram Vivah Utsav featured processions and music from various monasteries and temples, followed by a wedding ceremony performed with Vedic rituals. According to mythological belief, Ram and Sita were married on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Marga Shirpa month in the Treta Yug.
