It is our good fortune that we all are witnesses to this century of human mission, PM Modi said. He added that on this historical occasion, the Union Government has decided to honor Gita Press with the Gandhi Peace Prize. While talking about the equation between Mahatma Gandhi and Gita Press, PM Modi said Gandhi used to write for Gita Press from the medium of 'Kalyan Patrika'.
“I have been informed that it was Gandhi Ji who gave the suggestion that the ‘Kalyan Patrika’ should avoid publishing advertisements," PM Modi said. In June, the Union Government decided to award Gandhi Peace Prize to Gita Press for its “outstanding contribution towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violent and other Gandhian methods". The decision attracted criticism from Congress which pointed towards the equation between Gita Press and Mahatma Gandhi.
