Ganesh Chaturthi, a major Hindu festival, will begin on September 7 and end on September 17 with the immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idol. This festival, celebrated annually on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the Bhadrapad month, marks a significant event for devotees across India. The festival involves installing Ganesha idols at homes and worshipping them with devotion. The festival’s timing and traditions highlight its importance as Lord Ganesha, known as Vighnaharta, is worshipped for removing obstacles and ensuring success in new ventures.
Ayodhya’s renowned astrologer, Pandit Kalki Ram, has shared insights into selecting an ideal Ganesha idol for this year’s celebration. The idol should have a trunk bent towards the left, which is considered auspicious and is believed to bring happiness, prosperity, and peace to the home.
When purchasing an idol, ensure it includes a mouse (Mooshak) and a Modak in its hands. These features are regarded as auspicious and enhance the idol's significance.
For the best results, opt for a vermilion-colored idol. This color is said to boost self-confidence and remove life’s obstacles. A white-colored idol, on the other hand, is believed to bring joy and happiness to the household.
Install the idol facing the north direction, aligning with the direction of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Shiva. Positioning the idol this way is thought to attract blessings from both Lord Ganesha and these deities.
