Hubertus Heil, the German Labour Minister, emphasized India’s importance, saying, «Germany views India as an especially important partner when it comes to the issue of skilled labour migration.»

On October 16, the German government approved 30 new measures, focusing on easing visa processes and improving integration for Indian nationals. A significant development is the digitalization of visas by the end of 2024, which is expected to reduce the waiting period for visa approvals. Germany had already shortened visa processing times for Indian workers from nine months to two weeks, a shift expected to benefit nearly 400,000 skilled workers.
