Get ready to see the Blood Moon! Here's your guide on how to watch, when, where and some tips to view total lunar eclipse
total lunar eclipse or a 'blood moon' will be visible across the United States. The full moon will be red in colour and will surely dazzle your eyes. The best part is you don't need any equipment to watch and can be seen with your naked eyes.
When can you see this?
Start watching the night of March 13 to the early hours of March 14. If you live on the West Coast, the eclipse will begin approximately at 10 p.m. PST and peak at about 1 a.m. PST. Anyone stationed on the East Coast may have to stay up a bit late since the phenomenon will occur close to 1 a.m. EST. The entire event will continue for a few hours.
Emily Rice, associate professor of astrophysics at the Macaulay Honors College said, «This is a great eclipse to watch because the full moon will be passing through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow (called the umbra), and it is well-timed for night-owl observers in the US,» as quoted in CNET report.
Who can get to see it?
People living in North America and South America are in one of the best positions to witness the event, as per a CNET report.
Rice said, «Lunar eclipses are easier to observe than solar eclipses, because the Earth's shadow is much larger than the full moon, so anyone who can see the full moon will be able to see the eclipse,» as quoted in the report.
