MakeMyTrip (MMT) on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to further turn Goa in a year-round destination, moving beyond its iconic sun, sand, and beaches. The one of a kind public-private partnership aims to outline a series of innovative initiatives to showcase Goa's lesser-known inland treasures, its rich cultural tapestry and delectable culinary traditions, is the next step ahead.
As part of this pact, MMT plans to broaden the reach and appeal of the coastal state by bringing to the table its expertise in digital innovation and marketing.
The Tourism Minister of Goa emphasized the government's commitment to transforming Goa, the first state to launch Regenerative Tourism initiative. This particular initiative of the state government has Ekadasha Teertha campaign, where they are connecting eleven places of worship to form a travel circuit.
In the next 36 months the Tourism Department's goal is to promote environmental restoration, cultural preservation, and community empowerment by means of four paths – spirituality, indigeneity, civilizational and cultural nationalism, and conscious tourism, as part of the Regenerative Tourism initiative.
«Our partnership with MakeMyTrip will help us introduce tourists to the heart and soul of Goa, ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism are equitably distributed across the state,” said Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, IT, E&C, and Printing and Stationery, Government of Goa.
