Thalapathy Vijay will create box-office history before hanging up his (acting) boots. The Tamil superstar’s latest film, ‘GOAT’ (short for ‘Greatest Of All Time), which hit the theatres on Thursday, is poised to shatter BO records. According to a report by box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the sci-fi action extravaganza has collected over Rs 8.56 crore so far on day one of its release. Going by the craze it witnessed during advanced bookings, the movie is predicted to cross Rs 100 crore worldwide on the first day.
Earlier, the movie garnered over Rs 24.5 crore through advance bookings for its opening day. Of this total, around Rs 22.83 crore came from its Tamil 2D screenings, while the Tamil IMAX 2D screenings earned approximately Rs 30 lakh. The Telugu and Hindi 2D versions of GOAT collected Rs 85.66 lakh and Rs 50.52 lakh, respectively, according to the film trade site Sacnilk. The movie saw strong early bookings in regions such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra.
As reported bySacnilk, the film has already generated Rs 11 crore in ticket sales on its first day. Including blocked seats, this figure rises to over Rs 14.6 crore. Out of this total, Rs 11.2 crore comes from Tamil-speaking areas, where tickets are being sold at an average price of Rs 208. In Telugu-speaking regions, ticket sales have reached Rs 7 lakh so far. IMAX showings have added Rs 2 lakh in advance sales, with average ticket prices exceeding Rs 800.
