Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) on Monday reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,893 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, versus net profit of Rs 452.14 crore in the year-ago period.
The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 10 per share for the financial year 2024-25 and the record date for ascertaining the names of the shareholders who will be entitled to receive the said dividend is Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The dividend will be paid on or before Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The revenue from operations stood at Rs 3,365.11 crore for the reported quarter which rose 6% over Rs 3,172.21 crore posted by the company in the year-ago period.
In the previous quarter, the company reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 581.06 crore while its revenue from sales of goods stood at Rs 3,172.21 crore.
Total revenue from operations which comprised revenue from sales of products and other operating operating revenue stood at Rs 3,385.61 crore. The Indian portion accounted for Rs 2,033.59 crore while those from Indonesia and Africa stood at Rs 498.34 crore and Rs 593.69 crore, respectively. The others stood at Rs 290.03 crore.
The January-March quarter loss was on account of exceptional items where the company incurred losses of Rs 2,375.65 crore. The company in its filing to the exchanges said that during the year ended March 31, 2024, the company had exceptional items comprising loss on sale of investment in Godrej East Africa Holdings Limited of Rs 792.6 crore and impairment provision for diminution in value
