Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) — comprising the unlisted Godrej & Boyce and several closely held affiliates — is understood to be working on a strategic plan with the Boston Consulting Group to create integrated and scalable consumer and industrial solutions businesses.
GEG aims to tap into synergies offered by business adjacencies to accelerate its growth after a recent realignment of revenue streams and companies in the century-old Godrej Group.
Internal discussions are still going on in this matter and the group may consider creating separate scalable business units to drive growth.
With a massive landholding in Mumbai, GEG will also be exploring ways to make this value accretive in the future, top officials close to the development said. GEG has approximately 3,400 acres, including a single 3,000-acre parcel, in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
“Unlike Godrej Industries Group that has had many listed companies for a long time, GEG has unlisted entities. In that, the group has been conservative in the past and may now chase a more aggressive plan of growth that focuses on scale,” said an official close to the group. “Also, it may also look closely at how well the land parcel can be monetised."
