Neeraj Chopra has created history!
On Sunday (August 27), Chopra became the first Indian athlete to bag a gold medal for men’s javelin throw at the World Athletic Championships.
Chopra threw the javelin to a distance of 88.17 metres on his second attempt.
Several celebrities and public figures from all walks of life took to Twitter to congratulate the 25-year-old.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi left a very heart note of congratulations. Describing Chopra as a symbol of unparalleled excellence, he lauded him for his dedication and passion for sports.

Business tycoon Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of the Mahindra Group also praised the young athlete profusely. Sharing a clip of Chopra throwing the javelin, he wrote, “INDIAAAAA. CHOPRAAAA.

Cricket icons Virendra Singh Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir also left congratulatory notes for the athlete on Twitter. “Gold for our diamond!” wrote Gambhir.
