The display also mentions ‘ripcurrent’ in the bootloader. On the flip side, one can see loads of stickers pointing out that this is a test device “FOR TEST/EVALUATION ONLY" and that it has not been authorized by the FCC to be sold or leased.
The handset, the image shows, is for “internal testing and development only." Google Tensor G2 was codenamed ‘cloudripper’ and also as GS201. The upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are rumoured to come powered by a Tensor G3 inside which, as per the report, is codenamed ‘zuma,’ mentioned on the back of this test device. The back side of the test device also shows a horizontally aligned triple camera setup.
Pixel 8 Pro is tipped to have a 50MP primary camera paired with a 64MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5x telephoto lens. A report by Android Authority states that the Pixel 8 series may feature Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor - an upgrade from ISOCELL GN1. Compared to its predecessor, GN2 is large and has the ability to capture 35% more light.
The sensor also supports 8K/30fps video capture. In addition, Google 8 Pro may offer an improved time-of-flight (ToF). Android Authority states that the device has a new 8×8 ToF VL53L8 sensor which should make the autofocus much more reliable.
The shared image also shows a temperature sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro. As per a report by 91 Mobiles, the dedicated thermometer sensor will be able to measure the temperature of humans and objects. The new sensor is expected to be only available on the Pixel 8 Pro and might not be available on the cheaper Pixel 8 model.
