The Bengaluru Police late on Thursday night registered an FIR under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the former CM based on a complaint from a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her 17-year-old daughter, last month. The government later transferred the case to CID.
Chief Minister based on a complaint from a woman who accused him of sexually harassing her 17-year-old daughter, last month. The complainant said the alleged incident took place when they both went to see the former CM seeking help in a police case.
The veteran leader told the media that he would deal with the complaint legally. The woman and daughter visited his house a few times, but found them in tears one day, six weeks ago. When they explained their grievance, he called the police commissioner and asked him to look into their grievance. He even gave them money when they shared their distress, he added.
“I did not expect this from them,” he said.
The Congress regime, however, responded to the allegation carefully. While Dy CM DK Shivakumar did not wish to comment on the complaint, Home Minister G Parameshwara said the government did not have to say anything in the matter as the police were investigating it. The police will go by the law and take appropriate action, he added.
«This is a sensitive thing as it involves a former CM. I don't think there is any political angle to this. If the distressed woman needs protection, then it will be given.»
