Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings defeated the Gujarat Titans in a thrilling match on Thursday, primarily due to the bravery of their uncapped Indian star, Shashank Singh.
The «unwanted» Shashank Singh on Thursday demonstrated his class with the bat as he assisted Punjab Kings (PBKS) in defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
With one ball still to spare, Shashank led PBKS home with a brilliant knock of 61 off 29 balls, going undefeated and hitting six boundaries and four sixes. Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17) provided him with excellent support as the pair shared 43 runs off only 22 balls, raising hopes for PBKS that ultimately came true.
For all of you who said Shashank Singh was a mistake from Punjab Kings to buy him at the auction! This one is for you.
The Punjab Kings were left embarrassed at the conclusion of the Indian Premier League's 2024 edition auction in December 2023 because they apparently selected the incorrect player due to confusion over their player's name. The hammer had fallen on the sale, and the auctioneer had stopped them from switching players.
It seemed that the Punjab Kings management had mistakenly paid Rs 20 lakh for a 32-year-old Chhattisgarh player named Shashank Singh, rather than the 19-year-old batter they had intended to sign.
