India’s largest private sector lender HDFC Bank has informed its customers that they will not be able to use the bank’s debit, credit and prepaid cards on June 4 and 6, though briefly, due to a system upgrade.
The bank has sent this information about this temporarily unavailability of the service to its customers through emails and SMSes.
“HDFC Bank debit, credit and prepaid card transactions will not be available on June 4, 2024 from 12:30 AM – 2:30 AM and on June 6 from 12:30 AM – 2:30 AM,” the bank said in an email sent to customers.
The private sector lender will carry out system upgrade for its debit, credit, and prepaid card services on June 4 and June 6 from 12.30 A.M. to 2.30 A.M.

Due to this system upgrade during these short windows of time on these dates, HDFC Bank’s debit, credit, prepaid card services will not work at the bank’s ATM, Point of Sale (swipe machine at stores), online payment gateway portal and Netsafe transactions.
Further, HDFC Bank Rupay Cards will not work even for online transactions on non-HDFC Bank payment gateways.
Last week, HDFC Bank shut most of its services, including net banking, mobile banking and UPI, due to scheduled maintenance activities from 3.30 A.M. to 6.30 A.M. on May 25, 2024.
The bank also sent SMSes to its customers informing about the scheduled maintenance work. “Scheduled Maintenance: Some transactions on HDFC Bank NetBanking & MobileBanking App unavailable on 25th May, 3:30-6:30 A.M.”
