An orange alert has been issued for Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur districts," IMD HP deputy director Bui Lal told ANI. He further stated that IMD's observation has been shared with the state government and people are also warned of flash floods, landslides, and uprooting of trees. These events can also affect the water and electricity supply in the state.
"We have shared our forecast with the state government and a warning has also been issued for flash floods, landslides, and uprooting of trees. These events might also hit water and electricity supply," he said. The agency, on Saturday, had also predicted the possibility of flash floods and avalanches in Lahaul and Spiti districts because of continuous rainfall.
There have been different incidents of uprooting trees and landslides in Himachal Pradesh due to the rainy season. HP police on Saturday said that a road was blocked due to the falling of a tree in the Khera district near the Sidhartha factory on the National Highway. A long traffic jam was observed on the road connecting Manpura and Nalagarh.
The tree fell following incessant rains in the district. After a long operation to clear the tree by officials, vehicular movement on the road was restored. On Thursday, a railway track between Koti railway station and Sanwara railway station at Tunnel No.10 was closed after severe flooding due to heavy rains in Shimla.
