Manhattan Jury indicted Former US President Donald Trump on 34 counts of felony in the hush money case. The sentencing for this is expected on July 11 by Judge Juan Merchan. Trump is also expected to be officially announced as the Republican Party nominee for the upcoming US Presidential elections in November 2024 during the Republican Party Convention which will be held close to this sentencing date.

As per federal law, the former president would need round-the-clock security of secret service agents who would be rotated in shifts. Though New York state rules bar firearms in prisons, high-profile prisoners would need to be protected. Further, all items entering the prison will have to be thoroughly checked. Further, convicts will not be permitted to use hair gel or makeup kits inside the prison. Jails will have to be assessed before the sentencing of Trump in view of the necessary logistical arrangements.

However, if the prison term is less than a year, he would be sent to a prison in Rikers Island which is deemed to be inhumane. Authorities voted in 2019 to shut it down by 2027. Here, the former president will be subjected to strip searches and be subjected to the same rules as other inmates.
