In this league, an auction is held where owners of the respecting teams participating in the tournament sit compete amongst themselves, and buy their favorite players after tough bidding wars. These owners are mostly top-notch business owners, actors, and professionals who have invested in these IPL teams.

This IPL auction saw a total of 72 players being chosen from a huge tally by the respective team owners, which included 30 overseas players. The highest price for a player was paid for INR 24,75,00,000 when the team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) paid this whopping total for Australian pacer Mitchell Starc.
The IPL 2024 season begins on March 22 and will have 10 teams participating in it. This year's edition is the 17th one and will be watched extensively in Dubai which has previously hosted some matches of the IPL seasons in 2014 and 2020.
Matches of the 2014 season were held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah respectively due to the national general elections held in India that year. That particular year Dubai International Cricket Stadium hosted seven matches while Sharjah and Abu Dhabi's stadium hosted six and seven matches respectively.
