Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday accused the Jammu and Kashmir police of violating the Election Commission of India guidelines by summoning, harassing and making youngsters sign surety bonds ahead of the assembly election.
He said «tens of dozens of people» from across towns, villages and Srinagar city are being asked to report to the police stations.
«People, especially political workers and youth, are being harassed and asked to report to police stations seeking surety bonds from them. Long lists of people in each thana area to be detained in view of elections have been prepared.»
