Avadh Ojha, a first-time candidate and a popular UPSC exam coach, accepted responsibility for his defeat. He acknowledged his inability to connect with voters, stating, “It’s my personal defeat. I couldn’t connect to people… I’ll meet the people and will contest the next election from here.”
Patparganj has historically been a crucial constituency in East Delhi, with a large number of Poorvanchali and Pahadi voters. The seat was a Congress bastion until AAP’s emergence in 2013. Manish Sisodia, who had held the seat since then, secured victory in 2020 with a slim margin of just 3,207 votes. However, Sisodia was not in the fray this time, leaving AAP to field Avadh Ojha in an attempt to retain its dominance.
